Although January 2021 was a subdued time due to the global pandemic, I still had an incredible experience discovering new trends and getting my creative juices flowing at the AmericasMart Show in Atlanta, Georgia. From the first moment I began exploring the eclectic décor and colorful trends, I felt inspired by the variety of intricacies and treasures that surrounded me. Divulging further, I noticed five hot trends that are on the rise this season that can instantly transform your interior décor.
Big and Bold Artwork
Whether an art piece was abstract, landscape, seascape, or graphics, the larger the art, the more powerful the punch. Browsing through the talent at the Mart, I was captivated by the magnitude of these art pieces and the emotion they could instill with a few purposeful brushstrokes. Big and bold artwork is on the rise this season, so pairing a staple piece with simple complimentary designs will create a space you will treasure.
Upscale Boho Vibe
When you walk into a space adorned with natural rattans and bamboos, blended with shades of green and accented with gold accessories, the charming ambiance makes you feel right at home. This upscale boho vibe has been popular for years, and it seems the trend will continue to be a go-to décor style for those who love a combination of cozy yet sophisticated.
Chinoiserie
From traditional to playful, there were elements of Chinoiserie influence everywhere at the Atlanta Market. The classic European depiction of Eastern culture has created an artistic style that is romantic and fanciful – a gorgeous accent to any room décor. The integration of distressed blue and white ginger jars, pagoda-influenced shapes in art and lighting, and pops of color from pinks, baby blues, and lime green give these art pieces a playful yet elegant feel.
Goodbye Minimalism, Hello Layers
In recent years there has been a tendency to ditch the cluttered decorations and focus on a clean, minimalist look, but based on my experience at the Atlanta Market this year, there has been a change of season. Rather than a clean, stark, minimalist feel, there has been a return to an appreciation of textures, accents, and layers in decorative features that offer a new level of dimension.
Yummy Down-Filled Pillows
Decorative pillows can be a controversial feature of room décor, but the trend is back – and better than ever. Throughout the market, I observed a wonderful source of large, plush down-filled pillows that would be fit for a Goddess. The quality was sublime, and the comfort was even more exquisite.
The abundance of beautiful décor at the January 2021 Atlanta Mart was incredible – I was blown away by the vibrant accents and range of diversity found at every corner, from the detailed paintings to the signature ceramicware. Anyone with an appreciation for art and design could get lost for hours in the maze of stunning displays, so I am grateful I had the opportunity to be inspired by the creativity and talent within the wholesale marketplace.
